About the Role
For over 30 years Architerra Design Group has established itself as a full-service Landscape Architectural firm located in Rancho Cucamonga, California. We have a diverse portfolio of successfully executed and award winning projects and are seeking a well-seasoned licensed Landscape Architect join our staff as Director of Production. This is a full-time, salaried position that would direct and oversee the production efforts for all Project Managers and Designers on a wide range of public agency, private and institutional projects. The majority of our projects are located in Southern California and include large-scale housing developments, streetscapes, parks, open space areas, trails, public and private schools and colleges, hospitals, corporate campuses, commercial developments and custom single-family residential.
We are seeking an organized, detail orientated candidate who is technically proficient in areas of construction materials and methods, grading, irrigation and skilled in the development of technical plans and details for custom design elements. The position will work in direct coordination with our Director of Design.
Key responsibilities include leading the production efforts for large-scale multi-disciplinary team projects, staff and project scheduling, along with in-house plan checking and quality assurance processes to ensure accuracy and thoroughness for all deliverables. This position is an integral part of business development, visioning, and the long-range growth of the firm, therefore the successful candidate will be actively involved in the preparation of project proposals along with staff development and the hiring, mentoring and evaluation for all production staff.
Strong problem solving ability and project management skills are required. The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic about landscape architecture and the design process. We are looking for a team player native to or knowledgeable of, the Southern California environment and associated plants. Landscape architecture license is required and being licensed in California is a plus. The candidate should also possess strong communication skills and be comfortable presenting design solutions to various audiences. Computer software proficiency should include AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop etal), and Microsoft Office. Familiarity with LandFX and 3D modeling software is a plus.
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Landscape Architecture Degree from an accredited university
License
Landscape Architect State of California Preferred
Requirements
15-20 years of design, production, and construction detailing experience in a medium to large office environment.
Exceptional ability and proven experience overseeing the production process and teams for a range of project sizes.
Ability to lead and direct the production of multiple projects at the same time, collaborating with project managers and design team members.
Ability to mentor and develop staff through various skill levels
Experienced in scheduling, directing, and managing 10-12 staff members.
Well versed in a variety of project types and scales.
Technically proficient in all phases of construction, construction detailing, grading, irrigation, and planting.
Detail orientated, with passion for accuracy and completeness.
Understand quality design and presentation graphics.
Ability to manage office operations for efficiency and profitability.
Dedicated to the success of the firm and support of the President and Director of Design.
Understand and oversee computer equipment operation and management.
Ability to review, evaluate, promote, discipline and coach staff on a biannual basis.
Experience in writing proposals and seeking growth opportunities.
Knowledge of site construction and experience in construction observation.
